From the North of Lake District, UK, we offer majestic White Water Rafting with some of the best views in the UK!
The North Lakes region boasts breathtaking scenery along one of the most spectacular rivers in England. Set in the stunning Eden Valley, this white water rafting experience is suitable for all abilities – with a fun mix of gentle stretches to soak in the countryside, and playful rapids to add just the right touch of excitement.
It’s a brilliant choice for families, friends, and couples looking for a shared outdoor adventure – and equally popular for corporate team-building days and stag or hen groups wanting something fun, memorable, and full of fresh air.
Whether you’re seeking connection, nature, or just a different kind of day out in the Lake District’s North Lakes, this trip offers something for everyone.
Rapids vary with rainfall – they tend to be gentler in dry weather and bigger after rain – but whatever the season, this is our top-rated experience, loved for its magical setting, playful energy, and unique overall journey.
It’s an adventure that leaves you with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation for the incredible landscapes of the Lake District.

🌿 A River Like No Other
Lake District White Water Rafting takes you through the stunning sandstone cliffs of the Eden Valley – a landscape more like a Canadian salmon river than anything you’d expect to find in England.
🚣 What to Expect on the Day
After a full safety briefing, rafts travel in convoy, each with a fully qualified guide who gives clear instructions and keeps everyone safe. Expect plenty of interaction and laughter between rafts – it’s a shared adventure from start to finish.
We also provide a free shuttle to or from your car, depending on the route.
🕒 How Long Does It Take?
We run on natural rivers, so every trip is a little different:
• After heavy rain, the rapids can run fast – the quickest we’ve completed all seven miles is just over an hour.
• In summer, when river levels are lower, time on the water can stretch up to three hours, including a drink stop, river games, and an optional white water swim (conditions allowing).
• On average, the total experience lasts around 4.5 hours, including arrival, changing, briefing, a short walk to the river, rafting, and shuttle time.🌦 Weather & Clothing
We raft in all waters – high or low – and all weathers: rain, sunshine, even snow. We provide thick winter wetsuits, plus dry jackets in colder months to keep you warm and toasty.
We believe there’s no such thing as bad weather – just bad clothing!
💪 Fitness & Planning
White water rafting is exhilarating and physical, but suitable for all fitness levels – and we’re well used to helping children too. Although it’s a half-day activity, we recommend keeping the rest of your day relaxed.
Timings can vary, so please avoid booking back-to-back plans or gourmet dinners an hour’s drive away. If you’re rushing, it can spoil the magic – not just for you, but for everyone else too. Take your time, get lost in it. 🌊
A local pub or self-catered meal is a great (and tastier) choice – and the food around here is ace! Especially at The Fox and Pheasant in Armathwaite.
